About Gwen
Studio Administrator
Originally from Toronto, Gwen Beal moved to Saint John in 2021 and quickly found a home in its vibrant creative community. With a background in education and a passion for fostering creativity in young minds, she brings a wealth of experience to Alison Dawn Voice and Music.
As an early childhood educator, she has designed engaging, hands-on programming that continues to leave a lasting impact on children and their families. While working as a supply teacher in Melbourne, Australia, Gwen taught herself to play the ukulele with the help of a YouTube teacher—using music to engage young learners and boost her chances of getting call-backs. Ever since, she has incorporated music into her work with children, blending it with her deep understanding of child development to create joyful, interactive experiences.
Beyond education and music, Gwen is an abstract visual artist and an active member of the Saint John Art Club. She serves on the Board of Directors playing a key role in the club’s operations, decision making, problem solving, and outreach. As a member of the Website Committee, she updates and curates images to maintain an engaging online presence. On the Presentation Committee, she coordinates guest artists to deliver
presentations, demonstrations, or workshops for both club members and the public. As the lead for Change Day, she manages and recruits a
team of volunteers to assist with the rotation of artwork, curates display layouts, and coordinates the check-in and check-out procedures for paintings, to ensure an efficient and visually compelling gallery refresh.
Gwen’s own creative work as an abstract painter is deeply rooted in the belief that art is a means of expression, a way to explore and interpret the world. She values the cathartic process as much as the outcome, embracing experimentation and play—principles that also shape her approach to working with children. Gwen’s ability to balance creativity with organization makes her a valuable part of the Alison Dawn Voice and Music team.
As Studio Administrator, Gwen ensures the studio runs smoothly, providing thoughtful support to families and instructors alike. Whether she’s coordinating schedules, answering questions, or helping little ones feel at home in their musical journey, she brings warmth, organization, and a touch of creativity to everything she does. When she’s not at the studio, Gwen enjoys exploring nature with her 2.5-year-old and their adventurous pup.
