Zhentong Wang is a graduating student at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University enrolled in Piano Performance. During his time as an undergraduate, he studied with distinguished professors: Prof. Marina Mdivani and Dr. Stéphane Lemelin. He has been trained professionally in solo performance, collaborative piano, and music pedagogy. While studying in Montreal, he also worked as a substitute at Beaconsfield Music School and had teaching experience with students of all ages.

Zhentong first started taking piano lessons at the age of 5 and developed a strong interest in music during his early childhood. From 2014 to 2020, he studied with Dr. Roger Lord of Université de Moncton, completing two levels of piano exams each year and progressing tremendously. In May of 2018, Zhentong completed his Grade 10 in piano at École préparatoire de musique de l’Université de Moncton and obtained the highest mark amongst all piano students of all levels in the program within the province of NB.

Zhentong is a regular performer at various music festivals and competitions in New Brunswick and has always met excellent results. He won the First Prize at the NB Provincial Finals in the Intermediate Piano category in 2017 and won the “Top Pianist” Award, as well as first runner-up “Star of the Festival” at the NB Competitive Festival of Music in 2019. He was a finalist in the 2021 FCMC National Music Festival in the Senior Piano category and a participant in the 2020 non-competitive Canadian Music Competition. Throughout his undergraduate studies, he was a recipient of the highly selective Arts Scholarship Program of ArtsNB. 

Aside from his numerous awards and distinctions, Zhentong was also a guest performer at the annual Christmas Special “Noël à la caserne”, Greater Moncton Chinese New Year Gala, Jeunesses Musicales of Canada, among many other musical activities. His vast performance experiences allow him to provide both guidance and inspiration to his students.
